Christmas Party For Kids: 7 Steps To Organize A Great Christmas Party

Christmas is fast approaching and every year the Christmas party for kids is hosted at a different home. This year it is your turn. What do you do?

By following this step-by-step guide, you will be able to easily organise a great Christmas party that the kids will love and remember for a long time.

1. Inform yourself well about the children invited and who their parents are.

I recommend that you keep track of the children that you are inviting. Are they your son's school friends, are they the kids living nearby, or a mixture of both. Knowing exactly the number of children that will be at the party will help you prepare for the right amount of food and the adequate amount of supervision.

Moreover, it is a good idea to keep in touch with their parents and involve them. This way, you keep them reassured that everything will be alright. They may also tell you things about their kids that may be helpful, suggest you good ideas and even help you set up the party.

2. Prepare For Games And Activities,

This is what the kids will want to do most. Plan well about the games that you want them to participate in. Schedule the order clearly and everything will be fine.

Example:

a) Puzzles : 30 min
b) Singing : 15 min
c) Dancing : 20 min

d) Eating  : 30 min

e) Watching Cartoons : 1 hr
e) Story telling : 30 min
f) Treasure Hunt : 30 min

NB: You can even plan for some nap time if the party is going to be long.

3. Prepare For Music And Entertainment

Select some music and songs for kids, depending on their age and what is currently popular. Since it is a Christmas party for kids, some christmas music and songs would be very appropriate.

Additionally, you can hire a clown, Santa Claus or some other entertainer. Children love clowns and Santa Claus. This is guaranteed to be a big hit. If you cannot afford to hire somebody, you can jump into a costume yourself or enlist the help of one of your older children.

It is always a good ideas to keep small gifts for children on such an occasion. They can be cheap or homemade.

4. Prepare For Food And Drinks

Buy snacks, cakes, sweets, fruits and drinks. Prepare a more consistent meal if the party will last longer. It is always a good idea to have more food than less.

Check also with the parents about what kind of food is right for their child.

5. Prepare For Supervision

There are basically 2 types of parties: one where the parents are invited as well and one where only the children are invited.

In the first case, it should be fairly straightforward, since every other parent will have an eye on the kids.

In the second case, you have to provide for appropriate supervision. If there are 10 children and less, you probably can take of everything, provided that you have prepared yourself well. For example, the meal is already cooked when they arrive, and everything that you need is at arm's reach.

For larger groups, you will need the help of more adults or more mature teenagers.

6. Prepare For Emergencies

Always have a contingency plan, especially for the unexpected. Normally everything will go well, but it is better to well prepared. Always have the kids' parents numbers at hand and a means of transportation ready. This should be a important point for anyone organizing a Christmas Party for Kids.

7. Set The Start And Finish Time Clearly

Specify clearly the Start and Finish Time, especially the Finish time. You want the parents to pick up their child when the party is over, since you know that after a while they will want to see their parents. You want the children to have a great party and at the end to leave with a big smile.

In case a parent is late picking his child, always have a alternative ready. For example, you can have a board game where both your child and the other child can play. Or you can have a cartoon dvd ready for him to watch. Usually, it is recommended that you stay with the children as well.

If you do those steps correctly, you will be able to comfortably organize a great Christmas party. You will always be thinking ahead of the kids' needs and you will always be in control of the situation. Your kids will have terrific time and they will look forward to the new year with renewed joy.

Moreover, all the other kids will leave your house with a big smile on their face, and their parents will be asking how you managed to make them so happy!

Organizing a great Christmas Party for kids is one thing that will make them happy. There is so much more that you can do this Christmas that would make these few days look like a Santa Claus paradise.
